Jusung An received his B.S. degree Summa Cum Laude in Chemistry from Hallym University in 2018 and earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Korea University in 2024 under the guidance of Professor Jong Seung Kim. His doctoral research focused on the Development of multifunctional fluorescent probes for detection of amyloid biomarkers in Alzheimer's disease.
He is currently a postdoctoral research fellow in the research group of Professor Liviu M. Mirica at the Department of Chemistry, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he pursues interdisciplinary research at the interface of organic chemistry, bioinorganic chemistry, and chemical biology, with the aim of developing novel molecular tools for early diagnosis of Alzheimer's diseases.
During his Ph.D. studies, he was supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), and he currently holds an NRF Postdoctoral Fellowship. He was recognized with the Ph.D./Postdoctoral Academic Award jointly presented by the Korean Chemical Society (KCS) and the American Chemical Society (ACS) in 2025. He is a Lindau Chemistry Alumnus, having been nominated by the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST) as a Young Scientist participant in the 74th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings in Chemistry.
